1986-05-21 Recommended Records 7"

Recommended Records is an obscure UK label (also known as Re Records) that produces lots of obscure stuff. Obscure, yes, but never weak. Recommended Records (RēR) is a British independent record label and distribution network founded by Chris Cutler in March 1978. RēR features largely "Rock in Opposition" and related music, but it also distributes selected music released on other independent labels.

In 1982 Cutler established November Books, the publishing wing of Recommended Records, and between 1985 and 1997, Recommended Records and November Books published RēR Quarterly, a "quarterly" sound-magazine edited by Cutler.

In 1989 Recommended Records became known as RēR Megacorp.

Today we feature 7" records that celebrate the label's seventh anniversary.

This really is well worth a listen.

Music includes: Vogel, Cassiber, Peter Blegvad, Faust, R. Stevie Moore, Art Bears, Universe Zero, David Thomas, Residents, Test Dept, Nurse with Wound and a lot more.

1989-09-27 Maldistributed Middle Term

I hate it when my ideas are ruined by a maldistributed middle term.

Found sound and industrial droning dominate this show, along with assorted voice clips and other sounds. Also a lot of what can be called "Media Ecology," but then what can't be called that?

Music included: Negativland, Negativland interview, Hafler Trio, PGR, Zoviet France, and a lot more.

Rocking the planet down to the granite.

Music included: Missing Brazilians, Keith LeBlanc, Chris & Cosey, Jane Siberry, Fra Lippo Lippe, Die Warzaw, Commodity Fetish, 9 Inch Nails, Pankow, Laibach, KMFDM, Ajax, and a lot more.

1989-09-13 Entertain Them

This show took place in the great age of sampler bop gone wild. Sounds that were not meant to be music were sequenced and unleashed. I was actually involved in creating a lot of this (Commodity Fetish, Shadow Work). As long as you want a beat and some thoughtful ideas, this is for you.

Music included: Greater than One, Frontline Assembly, Commodity Fetish, Chris & Cosey, Borghesia, 9 Inch Nails, Back to One, Laibach, Manufacture, Weathermen, Shadow Work and a lot more.
